October 26, 2012 | Hans & FrankSuperb formation-flying was shown to the public by the Russian Air Force’s MIG 29 equipped demoteam STRIZHY during the (warbirds) Air Show at Zoersel, Belgium on September 4th , 1993 ! Hans and Frank enjoyed watching their display and – of course- took some pictures.

October 25, 2012 | Hans & FrankStar of the 1992 Belgian Air Force Airshow at Florennes AB(12 September), attended by Hans and Frank ,was a Spanish Mirage F1. At Florennes AB the second BAF airshow took place in that year; one week earlier a similar event was organized at Beauvechain AB.

October 25, 2012 | Hans & FrankAIRSHOW BEAUVECHAIN 5/6 September 1992 Central theme of the 1992 Beauvechain Airshow (only one week later the BAF organized a second airshow at Florennes!) was the 50th anniversary of its no. 349 “Strike hard, Strike home” squadron. Both Hans and Frank were among the spectators.
Brustem-St.Truiden (Belgium) Air Meeting / Pre Show Day, September 9th, 1989
October 25, 2012 | Hans & FrankNice formation-flying was carried out by resident Fouga Magisters and Alphajets during the pre-show day of the Belgian Air Force’s Air Meeting at Brustem-St.Truiden in September 1989. The national demoteams of Spain (La Patrulla Aguila) and Portugal (Asas de Portugal) were also present to show their abilities and not to forget that good old Avro Shackleton , which was part of a RAF-delegation. Both Hans and Frank went there and enjoyed the show.
Dübendorf (Switzerland) Airshow, August 27th, 1988
October 25, 2012 | Hans & FrankIn 1988 Hans and Frank were in Switzerland to watch the “Flugmeisterschaften” (Air Championships) of the Swiss Air Force. The event was held at Dübendorf AB, where an airshow was attached to it on 27 August. This gallery shows you some of the military a/c participating.
Twenthe AB (NL) Arrivals Open Day, July 3rd, 1987
October 25, 2012 | HansOn July 3rd , 1987 , one day before the actual Open Day at Twenthe AB (NL) took place , many aircraft-spotters and other enthusiasts already found their way to this air base . They all came to watch and to make pictures of the aircraft that were arriving for the Static Show on the next day. The Royal Air Force-component was most extensive with 1 Hunter , 1 Hawk , 1 Harrier , 1 Bucccaneer , 2 Phantoms , 2 Jaguars , 1 Puma and 1 Wessex participating ! Hans also joined the party and took a number of pictures , of which a selection is shown in this gallery.
Chièvres Open Day (Belgium), June 20th, 1987
October 25, 2012 | HansDuring the fifties and sixties Chièvres Air Base in the south of Belgium was in active use by the Belgian Air Force , but later on it gradually became an air-transport facility for V.I.P’s who are visiting SHAPE (the NATO-HQ in Brussels). Sometimes Open Days & Air Shows took place at this location , such as the one on June 20th ,1987 , which was attended by Hans. The presence of two USAF B-52’s (one at the Static Show and one demo-aircraft in the air) was without any doubt impressive !
Eindhoven (NL) Open Days, September 19 – 20, 1986
October 25, 2012 | Hans & Frank 1The Open Days at Eindhoven AB in September 1986 were quite representative for those days with various NATO aircraft arriving on the 19th and an Air Show on the 20th. Excellent weather conditions marked the event and this gallery , which – as usual- only presents a selective overview of the proceedings , contains a photo-review made by Hans.
USAF Thunderbirds demoteam: F-16’s, Soesterberg (NL), June 12th, 1984
October 25, 2012 | HansDuring their European Tour in 1984 the U.S.Air Force’s Flight Demonstration Team The Thunderbirds with their F-16’s also visited Soesterberg Air Base in the Netherlands on June 12th. The public had free access to the Base for the duration of the show and many thousands of people watched and admired the team’s flying skills. Hans was one of the spectators and took the pictures in this gallery , although three of the slides used were acquired via swopping with one of his correspondents at the time.
