On Saturday 23 August 2014 the German Air Force/Tactical Air Force Wing 73 “Steinhoff” opened its gates. The event marked the 55th anniversary of Taktishes LuftwaffenGeschwader 73 (formerly known as JG73) and 10 years of flight operations of the Luftwaffe with the Eurofighter.

The 2014 Open Days of the Royal Netherlands Air Force took place at Gilze Rijen AB both on June 20th and 21st and Hans was present on Saturday the 21st , working his way through the crowd and taking the pictures shown in this gallery.

In 2013 Volkel Air Base was the location where the Open Days , organized by the Royal Netherlands Air Force took place , celebrating 100 years of military aviation in the Netherlands and 60 years of K.Lu.
Hechtel/Sanicole Airshow (BE), September 2012

On 16 September 2012 the Sanicole aeroclub, based at Hechtel airfield in Belgium, had its 36th airshow. The Sanicole show is one of the largest privatly organized air events; stars of the day were a Barksdale B-52 bomber and two interesting Swedish warbirds, a Tunnan and a Viggen.
MCAS Cherrypoint (USA) Airshow, May 5th, 2012

Marine Corps Air Station Cherrypoint (in North Carolina, eastcoast of the USA) celebrated its 70th anniversary with a 3-day airshow (May 4-7, 2012). Cherrypoint is home to the Marines AV-8B (a US version of the British Harrier), but houses next to that squadrons equipped with Prowlers, Herculesses and various helicopters. Frank visited the Cherrypoint Airshow on May 5th.
Koksijde Airshow (Belgium), July 7th, 2011

Belgium celebrated the 65th anniversary of its air force with an impressive airshow at Koksijde Air Base on 6 and 7 July 2011. Koksijde is the home of 40 squadron Heli, the Sea King equipped SAR unit; that’s probably the reason why on the static show the rotors were in the majority and that only some 6 fighter aircraft were present (plus a lot of warbirds by the way; these are presented in our warbirds album).

On 20 and 21 June 2003 Hans and Frank attended the Airshow at the (now closed) R.Neth.A.F. airbase Twenthe. Frank took his pictures on the 21st, Hans on the 20th of June.

The flying-programme during the Open Days at Leeuwarden Air Base (NL) in June 2006 featured the U.S.Navy’s Flight Demonstration Team The Blue Angels. Never before they visited the Netherlands so this was their first time and for Dutch aircraft spotters it was an excellent opportunity to see their F-18 Hornets and one Hercules in action !
