January 20, 2014 | FrankIn 1978 both the Advanced- and Transition Flying School of the Belgian Air Force were based at the airbase of Brustem/Sint Truiden; this base is now closed by the way. The AFS was equipped with the Potez-Fouga CM-170 Magister, the TFS with Lockheed T-33As. Both types were replaced by the Alpha Jet in the early eighties and the location for the flying training was moved to France.

The national demoteams of Spain (La Patrulla Aguila) and Portugal (Asas de Portugal) were also present to show their abilities and not to forget that good old Avro Shackleton , which was part of a RAF-delegation. Both Hans and Frank went there and enjoyed the show.
Brustem-St .Truiden (Belgium) Airshow, June 22 – 23, 1968
October 24, 2012 | Frank & Gijs & HansThe Airshow at Brustem AB in 1968 , attended by the three of us ,was a very special event: new at the time were the green/brown colour schemes introduced by the BAF on (some of )their fighter- and training aircraft-types . The fact that the USAF showed no less than five century fighters was a bonus as well!
Airshow Brustem-St.Truiden (Belgium), June 27th, 1965
October 18, 2012 | HansThe 1965 (June 27th) Airshow at Brustem-St.Truiden AB, Belgium was the very first aviation-event attended by Hans (except for the Open Day at Eindhoven AB in 1963, of which he has no pictures available). The photos in this gallery are of very poor quality , taken as they were with very simple camera-equipment, but nevertheless worth while showing. They give you a sense of long ago…!
