Spotting at Eindhoven (NL)

Eindhoven was the city where the authors both grew up and became “real” aircraft-spotters at the nearby air base. They made many pictures there throughout the years often under difficult circumstances ! This gallery contains a selection of these “blood, sweat and tears”-pics taken at Eindhoven (NL). The Eindhoven based Thunderstreaks are not in this gallery, but all in one seperate album. Note that in the 60/70ties Eindhoven AB also had a Base-Flight with Lockheed T-33’s,Harvards etc. You will find some pictures of these aircraft in this gallery.
A few images taken in more recent years are incorporated as well. Eindhoven now houses the transport fleet of the RNethAF (pics are in gallery named “KLu aircraft”).
Base Aéronavale Frejus – St. Raphael Open Day (France), June 1979

Fréjus-St. Raphael was a base of the Aéronavale (French Naval Air Arm); the base is closed now and turned into a recreational facility. Frank visited the June 1979 Open Day there.
Spotting at Volkel (NL)

During the Sixties Volkel (NL) was an airbase where photography was not easy; nevertheless the authors (Hans and Frank) managed to take some pictures during that period . Later on facilities to do so grew easier. This gallery contains a selection of the images we took at Volkel – mainly standing near the landing-lights waiting for the aircraft to come in.

This was the day prior to the Open Days of the KLu; Frank and Hans went to Volkel in an attempt to catch some of the arrivals for the airshow. The Open Day of 13 June is reported in a separate gallery.
Base Visit Brussels-Melsbroek (Belgium), July 28th,1972

On July 28th , 1972 Hans and Frank visited the 15th Wing of the Belgian Air Force based at Brussels-Melsbroek . A great deal of the air-transport fleet was present , that is to say lots of C-119 Packets or Flying Boxcars , a Douglas C-47 , a Pembroke , a Douglas DC-6 and -last but not least -the first C-130 Hercules for the Belgian Air Force (BAF) which had just arrived a few days prior to the visit of the authors of this photo-gallery.
Ramstein AB (G) USAFE Armed Forces Day 1971

On June 11th and 12th , 1971 a number of (Dutch) aircraft spotters (Hans was one of them) travelled to Ramstein Air Base in Germany to attend the USAFE Armed Forces Day , which also marked the end of the NATO Royal Flush Reconnaissance Meet that was organized there during the weeks before.
