Fliegerhorst Jever in Northern Germany hosted the 7th NATO Tactical Weapons Meet , which was an exercise between 2 & 4 ATAF (Allied Tactical Air Force). Some aircraft-spotting pictures could be taken on the 17th. Special thanks to J.A.H. van den Oever and F.Spangenberg.
Frank only incidentally visited Soesterberg AB , but Hans frequented the former Air Base quite often because he moved to the province of Utrecht (where Soesterberg is located) at the end of the Sixties , after having made his living in Eindhoven . So he (also) became a Soesterberg AB “home” spotter and he already has published a lot of his Soesterberg pictures elsewhere on the web. The picture-gallery on our website shows a limited selection of pictures not only of the aircraft of the resident American “Royal” squadron , The Wolfhounds , but also of various other planes that were stationed at Soesterberg AB or only paid a visit over the years. They were all taken from outside the base.
In 1985 it was 50 years ago that the famous Douglas DC-3 Dakota took to the air for the first time. Opportunity for a Golden DC-3 Jubilee-celebration , organized at Eindhoven Airport and bringing together five airworthy Douglas DC-3’s : some in civilian, others in warbirds livery . In this gallery Hans shows you some pictures he made on July 6th.
