On July 3rd , 1992 Hans travelled all the way by car to and fro Koksijde Air Base , which is situated near the Belgian coast . It was his intention to be present during the arrivals of several aircraft and helicopters that were to participate in the Open Days that followed.
In September 1988 it was 35 years ago that 306“reconnaissance“squadron of the K.Lu. came into operation.
In July 1987 Hans boarded the ferry-boat from Hook of Holland to Harwich with his car and after arrival in the U.K.he travelled to RAF Fairford.
On July 23rd , 1983 Scramble Tours organized a one day return trip to what is known as the biggest Air Show event in Europe : the International Air Tattoo at RAF Greenham Common , U.K.
Hans joined the travel-group and took to the air in NLM City Hopper’s Fokker F-28 Fellowship PH-CHN for a flight from Amsterdam AP (Schiphol) to Southampton , U.K. and onwards by touring car to destination.
On July 3rd , 1987 , one day before the actual Open Day at Twenthe AB (NL) took place , many aircraft-spotters and other enthusiasts already found their way to this air base . They all came to watch and to make pictures of the aircraft that were arriving for the Static Show on the next day. The Royal Air Force-component was most extensive with 1 Hunter , 1 Hawk , 1 Harrier , 1 Bucccaneer , 2 Phantoms , 2 Jaguars , 1 Puma and 1 Wessex participating !
