Tactical Weapons Meet 1976, Twente AB
May 23, 2019 | Hans & FrankThe 1976 TWM (Tactical Weapons Meet) was the 12th edition of central Europe’s tactical attack competion. It was was held at Twente AB (NL) from 28 April till 15 May , visited by Frank on the 7th and by Hans on the 10th of May. TWM was a contest between teams of 2ATAF (Allied Tactical Air Force) and 4ATAF. The team from 2ATAF consisted of NF-5As of 316 squadron KLu of Gilze-Rijen AB, Mirages of 1 sqn BAFBierset, Starfighters of 1/31 JaBo Luftwaffe from Nörvenich and Phantoms of 31 sqn RAFG. 4ATAF consisted of 1/32 JaBo Luftwaffe, 1 CAG Canada, 22TFS/36TFW USAF and 23TFS/52TFW USAF from Spangdahlem (flying F-4D’s ). The French AF had sent a guest team, 3/13 Escadre from Colmar, equipped with Mirage 5Fs.The chase planes were NF-5Bs of Twente.

January 28, 2014 | HansOn August 31st ,1974 Twenthe AB was open to the public; the Dutch Naval Air service was well represented by a Neptune and an Atlantic ; furthermore the demoteam Popsy Black gave acte de presence with four Piper Super Cubs ; one of the few foreign participants was a British Harrier , stationed in Germany;

May 13, 2013 | HansHans visited Twenthe AB (NL) as an aircraft-spotter for the first time in 1968. During more recent years he came back there several times .
This gallery contains a selection of the pictures , taken by him outside the fences of Twenthe Air Base (NL) in their landing patterns and on occasions when there were exercises going on not knowing beforehand for certain if he would be successful.

October 25, 2012 | HansOn July 3rd , 1987 , one day before the actual Open Day at Twenthe AB (NL) took place , many aircraft-spotters and other enthusiasts already found their way to this air base . They all came to watch and to make pictures of the aircraft that were arriving for the Static Show on the next day. The Royal Air Force-component was most extensive with 1 Hunter , 1 Hawk , 1 Harrier , 1 Bucccaneer , 2 Phantoms , 2 Jaguars , 1 Puma and 1 Wessex participating ! Hans also joined the party and took a number of pictures , of which a selection is shown in this gallery.

The Dutch Grasshoppers-demoteam was already in full swing at the time flying their Alouette III-helis , then painted in a Zebra-livery. Also impressive was the solo-display by demo.pilot Hans van der Werf of 312 sq. in his shark mouth-nosed & red ,white and blue-tailed F-104G Starfighter.

October 24, 2012 | FrankThis Open Day at Twenthe AB featured the first public appearance of the brandnew NF-5 fighters of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (except for the one that was on the static of Volkel one month earlier)! Frank took some B&W-pictures.
