Photography in Belgium near military airfields and outside the gates and fences was not allowed for decades. The pictures in this gallery represent a selection , taken by the authors in Belgium as aircraft-spotters from 1967 to 1971 (pictures numbered 38-47 , 59-74 and possibly also 7 and 29)
Moreover some pictures of Belgian Air Force aircraft are included – kindly supplied by Gijs and belonging to his collection – taken at unknown dates and locations (unless mentioned ) in Belgium or elsewhere within air base enclosures during military base visits or military open days (pictures numbered 2 -8 ; 10-22 ; 24-37)
Here’s an impression of the 2012 Warbirds Fly-In/Photoflying Days at Zoersel/Malle Airfield in Belgium. The photos were taken on August 17.
This airfield in Belgium certainly is an eldorado for Warbirds-fans and 1996 was a year in which a great air show was organized there , not in the least because some former air force jets took part ! Especially interesting to watch were examples of the F-86 Sabre and the MIG 15 , once real opponents during the Korean War. Hans and Frank enjoyed their performance very much.
Hans and Frank went to Belgium in September 1993 to attend the traditional Warbirds Air Show that took place at Oostmalle Airfield.
Zoersel/Oostmalle is a disused NATO airbase in Belgium (near Antwerp). It houses a small but very enthusiastic aero club and this club (called APCK) has a great track record when it comes to organizing warbird airshows. Although there were no fast jets participating this year it was a fantastic event; Frank was among the visitors and his pictorial report starts here.
